The district administration authorities say that besides enforcement, engagement with farmers has helped in checking cases.
ADC (General) Amarjit Singh Bains, who is nodal officer for stubble burning related cases in the district, said that there has been a huge fall in farm fire cases in the district. He said that besides the enforcement on the ground, there has been direct engagement with the farmers “which has helped in bringing such cases down”. The ATR says that till Nov 23, no prosecution was filed under the Air Act and no action has been taken under Section 126/170 of the BNSS (Preventive action related).
