Tamil Nadu’s first floating restaurant was opened on the backwaters of Muttukadu near Chennai. The ₹5 crore double-decker boat can accommodate 125 people at a time.

Tourism Minister R. Rajendran and MSME Minister TM Anbarasan met Tourism Secretary B. The boat was inaugurated in the presence of Chandra Mohan. The boat was built by Grandeur Marine International under a private-public partnership.

The boat has an air-conditioned main deck with a stage, green room, a large 83-inch smart TV, DJ area, sound system and is suitable for parties, conferences, small weddings and celebrations like haldis.

The open deck has seating and space for games and events. According to Ojas, whose company managed the cruise, they have tied up with various catering teams and can provide all types of cuisine, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Trial runs have already been conducted and the floating facility can be used from 7 am to 11 pm
