Ludhiana: The Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) Ludhiana Range has taken preventive measures to enhance travel safety by installing reflective tapes on approximately 150 vehicles. Over the past few days, the SSF has conducted special drives to install reflectors on vehicles, particularly heavy vehicles, carts, cycles, and even stray animals, as well as at dark spots.
Inspector Jarnail Singh, in-charge of SSF Ludhiana Range, said their team, which covers the Ludhiana commissionerate, Jagraon, Khanna, and Nawanshahr, operates with at least 13 vehicles. These officials patrol various routes, and upon identifying a vehicle without reflectors, they apply the tapes. Animals have also been equipped with reflective collars.
On Tuesday night, DSP SSF Brij Mohan visited various spots to check the team’s functioning and instructed the team to provide necessary medical treatment to victims of road mishaps.

3% vehicles may be retrofitted by 2026

Regulatory hurdles and cost remain challenges, but increased demand and R&D could lower prices.
