
Retail sales increased by sales on car dealers in April, but probably dropped in May
Statistics Canada says retail sales increased by 0.3 percent to $ 70.1 billion in April, helped with profit in sales in new and used car dealers.
However, the agency says its initial figures for May may indicate a decline of 1.1 percent for that month.
For April, six of the nine sub-sectors were up, as the motor vehicle dealers increased by 1.9 percent, the new car dealers increased by 2.9 percent and the car dealers used 2.1 percent.
Sports, hobbies, music means, books and sales of diverse retailers increased by one percent, while retailers of furniture, household items, electronics and equipment increased by 0.8 percent.
Sales of stools of clothes, clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories and leather goods fell 2.2 percent.
Core retail cells, which exclude gasoline stations and fuel vendors and motor vehicle and parts dealers, increased by 0.1 percent in April.
In terms of volume, overall retail sales increased by 0.5 percent in April.
