Breastfeeding can help prevent early puberty in girls and boys, South Korean studies
According to a big new study in South Korea, girls and boys who were specially breastfeeding during their first four to six months reduced the risk of early puberty, which can be applied here.
Study published in Monday issue Jama network openFrom 2007 to 2020, saw the diet and development of more than 300,000 children, at the age of four to six months and based on the checkup data before six years.
Worldwide, puberty has started rapidly in children rapidly. Called as “central anterior puberty”, it is associated with increasing risk of health problems in adulthood like heart disease, cancer and diabetes, as well as mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
Researchers believe that children who are particularly breastfeeding are less likely to develop childhood obesity, which is a major predecessor factor of early puberty. However, experts note that many mothers face challenges in breastfeeding, which they say that should be addressed at a structural level.
Dr. Dr, Associate Vice-Pressurer of Global Health at McMaster University. Sonia Anand said, “There should be a tech-hom message for parents or parents, that breastfeeding has many beneficial health effects for their children.”
“And the second message is that it is not always easy to do.”
Long -term advantage of breastfeeding
In the South Korean study, about 46 percent of infants were exclusively breastfeeding, the formula of over a third and about 20 percent.
Professor of Medicine and Physician Scientist at McGill University Health Center. Kaberi Dasgupta said, “The idea is that breastfeeding children are less likely to have additional weight and this is the mechanism from which they are more preserved than developing early puberty,” Professor of Medicine and Physician Scientist at McGill University Health Center. Kaberi Dasgupta said, who were not even involved in the study.
Researchers found that boys who were only fed the formula had an increased risk of 16 percent of the early puberty compared to their peers, which were only fed breast milk, the researchers found. Especially for formula-knew girls, the association jumped up to 60 percent. For mixed-well-bored boys, it was 14 percent more, while compared to 45 percent for girls.
Researchers mentioned some warnings for their studies. For example, how long did the participants breastfeed their children. It may not include genetic factors such as puberty age.

The initial part of life is an important time, because when there is a risk of too much disease, doctors Lynn Yang and Shengxu Lee have written. Although he was not involved in the study, he wrote a journal commentary together.
“The disease starts quickly, so it should be prevented,” he said.
Dasgupta says that there is no reason to think that the conclusions will be different in Canada. Stopping the initial puberty may help children in other ways.
“At first your youth, the younger you can become,” he said. “When you are still a child, there is also a stigma around being an adult being an adult. Other children can irritate you.”
Support mothers instead of shaming
Yang and researchers say that instead of putting pressure on new mothers, a social-wide approach is important. This includes strong parents’ holiday policies, a private location like a private location for breastfeeding and breastfeeding support services.
Yang told CBC News, “I think the support of policy, increase awareness, as well as being able to create environment for women (breastfeeding) is very important.”
Sleep patterns, levels of physical activity and screen time can also increase childhood obesity and initial puberty rate, Yang and Lee wrote in their comments, as well as environmental pollutants like endocrine disruptorsHowever, he admitted that he does not have good data.
In Canada, about 91 percent of the parents start breastfeeding. About 38 percent of the parents especially breastfeed for at least six months, Statistics Canada Reported in 2024. Among the people who had stayed before six months, there was not enough breast milk in the reasons, it was difficult to breastfeed and the baby removed it.
“I think the wrong tech and wrong attitude is to embarrass the mothers who try to breastfeed, but cannot continue,” Anand said.
Breastfeeding is a factor in many people that can affect weight gain in children. Doctors say lifestyle options can also help limit fast food and prevent childhood obesity such as cooking with more vegetables and lean proteins.
While South Korean studies do not prove that the formula feeding causes initial puberty, researchers had a strong data set and the associations are admirable, he said.
Anand’s own Research The early breastfeeding demonstrated and was associated with the lower level of excess fat in the body in children at the age of three for at least six months.
She says she wants to see other major studies, which show the same conclusions to South Korean to reduce the cause and impact. He said that how genes are connected to genes, given that puberty can also help.
