Ford misses over 52,500 vehicles on a brake fluid leak in Canada

The Ford Motor is recalling 52,547 vehicles in Canada and about 500,000 vehicles in the US on the brake fluid leak issue, the company confirmed on Thursday.

According to a report by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the brake system may leak fluid from a broken hose, which can extend the distance, which increases the risk of accidents.

A company spokesperson wrote to CBC News in an email, “Driver brake pedal can get warnings through feel or travel changes and a red brake fluid warning indicator lights if the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir reaches a specified level,” a company spokesperson has written CBC News in an email.

Ford said that it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue.

The recall includes Ford’s SUV Edge, Model Year 2015 to 2018, as well as its middle -sized luxury vehicle, Lincoln MKX, 2016 to 2018. NHTSA estimates that one percent of the withdrawn vehicles have faults.

Ford says it is working on the solution of the defect and will inform the vehicle owners by mail after a measure is available. Vehicle owners can take their cars to a nearby Ford or Lincoln dealer so that the repair can be done for free.
