Air Canada Flight Attendants Union asked to cancel the process of arbitration, send an issue of wages for mediation

A spokesperson said on Tuesday that the Sangh, who represented Air Canada flight attendants, requested to cancel the mediation after voting against a wage agreement earlier this month.

A representative of the Canadian Union Public Employees (CUPE) confirmed the CBC News request, saying that the Sangh “no evidence” that mediation would achieve an acceptable result on an increase in wages for its members.

The spokesperson said, “The Sangh is demanding a quick process that will invest money in our members’ pockets and will eliminate this process as soon as possible.”

Air Canada confirmed that it agreed to the union’s request and that the flights would continue to operate normally. A spokesperson sent CBC News in a statement posted on the carrier’s website.

“On Friday, September 12, 2025, CUPE asked to remove with the arbitration process and proceed to the wage components directly to arbitration,” Air Canada said.

Air Canadian passengers faced major disruption last month when the airline started canceling flights to the strike expectation By its 10,000 flight attendants It ended for three days.

The strike ended when Labor Minister Patty Hazdu called on Section 107 of the Canada Labor Code and ordered the Canada Industrial Relations Board to intervene.

A temporary agreement was signed on August 19, but flight attendants voted for it earlier this month, with the wage issue back into mediation.

The Sangh states that the cabin crew represents that it is not being paid properly and they are not given proper compensation for time, when they are not in the air, they should spend on the job.
