affected route This includes flights from Montreal to Cancún, Cancún to Montréal, Toronto Pearson to Cancún, Cancún to Toronto Pearson, Montreal to Punta Cana and Punta Cana to Montreal.

The airline warned on Monday that if it did not reach an agreement with ALPA, the union representing its pilots, by Tuesday it would begin shutting down operations in anticipation of a strike.

ALPA issued a 72-hour strike notice on Sunday, meaning Air Transat pilots have until 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday to walk off the job.

“We are working tirelessly and hope to reach an agreement today to minimize disruption to operations,” a representative for the airline said in a statement Tuesday morning.

The airline said talks were continuing today and it made an “improved offer” on Monday evening after both sides acknowledged that progress had been made at the bargaining table. CBC News has contacted ALPA for comment.
