Ludhiana: Police on Saturday arrested an arhitya (commission agent) for allegedly raping a woman who worked in his shop in the Jagraon grain market. The arrested accused is a resident of Jagraon town.
The complainant told the police that she is married and her husband has been in jail for the last three years. She said that she works as a cook in the shop of the accused.
The complainant said that she met the accused, who was in his SUV, near Sherpur Gate, while she was on a scooter. He told her that he was going to get food from a dhaba and asked her to come along. Since she was on a scooter, he allegedly followed her to the bus stand and asked her to park the scooter there and accompany him in the SUV. The complainant said that she sat in the SUV with him and went to the dhaba. The complainant said that the accused raped her and left her at the bus stand. SHO City Police Station, inspector Amritpal Singh said that a case was registered and the accused was arrested from the area on Saturday.
