The BC government says this Sunday will be the last time British Columbians will have to change their clocks.

Premier David Eby announced Monday that the province will permanently adopt daylight time and that March 8 will be the last time the change is “spring forward.”

“We’re done waiting. British Columbia is going to change our clocks just one more time — and never after that,” Eby said.

Residents will have eight months to prepare for November 1, 2026, when the clocks will be turned back an hour, but will remain the same for now.

BC’s new time zone will be called “Pacific Time,” according to the province.

A report in 2019 The BC Government found that 93 per cent of respondents preferred more daylight hours year-round.

Of those who wanted year-round daylight hours, three-quarters said it was due to health and well-being concerns.

Abby said changing the clocks causes “all kinds of problems”, including dogs waking up at the wrong time, children and their parents losing sleep, and more car accidents.

more to come.
