Telangana Food Safety Department inspected 55 pizza installations
The Telangana Food Safety Department conducted a state -wide inspection of pizza outlets, covering both Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area and districts across the state. A total of 55 pizza installations were inspected, including 18 pizza hut outlets, 16 domino pizza outlets and 21 other local pizzeria and bakers. Several outlets in inspections revealed significant intervals in sanitation, licensing and food safety practices.

Pizza Hut Outlet
In the pizza hut outlets (M/s devyani international limited and operated by Sapphire Foods India Limited), eight outlets out of 18 were found to be violating norms. Viewed issues include mismatch license and inappropriate storage of jurisdiction, vegetarian and non-vegetarian goods in GHMC, unclean machinery in Hanumakonda (Kaziped), issuing medical certificates without proper examination in Warsrang and poor maintenance of freezer temperature and freezer temperature and hygiene records in Nejamabad and Nalganda.

Domino Pizza Outlet
And, 10 out of 16 domino pizza (operated by M/s Jubilant Foodworks Limited) were flagged out. The missing or expired licenses in GHMC and Nizamabad were violated in failure to separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian items in Hanumakonda, impure insect control, lack of gloves and facade use, unclean machinery (subdivision), and in Mahabubnagar.
Local establishments also faced investigation, out of which six outlets of six outlets were found. Hyderabad-based Pizza Paradise and Master V Bakers displayed cooking areas without expired or missing license, overuald food items, rusty ovens, and insect-proof obstacles. Medak’s pizza corner and la pinos pizza in CocaPate/Narsingi were marked for open vegetables, without insect control and medical records, and failed to follow the machinery cleaning program.
In response, unprotected foods were immediately abandoned, samples were collected for testing, and instructions were issued to the food business operators (FBOs) to improve violations without delay.
