Giant Pacific Octopus has been a viral sensation since the Pacific arrived in the Aquarium in California in the last summer.

But these days she leads a quiet life – although, in the wishes of farewell and love to love fans.

The ghost is dying. The octopus is in the final stages of his life, known as a sex, took care of the eggs he laid last week. The average lifetime for this octopus is about three to five years.

“We removed her from her residence,” Nate Jaros, Acquen’s Animal Care Vice President told As it happens Host Nil Koxle. “She went to a special holding area, which is behind her performance, where she becomes more peace and calm for this stage of her life.”

Jaros say that most octopuses live between one and three months of the onset of that phase.

“The octopus breed only once,” Jaros said. “(Female) spends the remaining part of their life, takes care of eggs and ensure that they have the best chance of hatching and the best chance to survive.”

During this period, an octopus can neglect them in favor of eating their basic needs such as eating, protecting their eggs and giving them air to fight bacteria or other harmful agents. But Jaros say that no one provides maternal care after the octopus hatch.

“It is very wild. They have 100,000 eggs, which is incredible,” he said. “Only one percent or less of those hatching will live really one percent or less.”

However, ghost eggs are unpublished, and will never hatch.

In the water of British Columbia, where the ghost is from the ghost, the huge Pacific octopus lives alone and only comes together for reproduction. Jaros say that male and female octopus do not naturally cohabit; They do not meet together.

“They are at high risk of aggression or potentially death,” he said.

Despite his solitary tendency, ghost is not without friends – at least mammal types. Jaros say that when she arrived at the aquarium in May 2024, the then-to-three-pound sephalopods quickly grabbed the hearts of their handlers to her “spunky” and “outgoing” character.

Now his weight is more than 22 kg. He is certainly increased, and so it has been followed.

Some fans shared on social media that they have a ghost tattoo, or in his honor, there is a plan to wear a sweater with his image.

Aquarium said on Instagram, “He is a wonderful octopus and has made eight-sixes on all our hearts.”

For Los Angeles’s marine biology student J McMahon, the Bhavna collides with the house. McMahon, an Aquarium visitor from the age of four, said that he was happy that he was able to see the ghost for the last time during a recent visit.

“When you have a relationship with that kind of animal and you know that they do not live for that long, every moment means a lot,” he told the Associated Press.

“I hope she encourages people to learn more about octopus and how important they are.”
