The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is urging the federal government to reduce administrative burdens and barriers for family physicians so they can provide better patient care.
During a press conference Friday, CFPC Chair Dr. Sarah Cook said every Canadian deserves access to a family doctor.
“Just no access to any care, no episodic care, no walk-ins when things fall apart,” she said. “But timely, consistent, coordinated care with a family doctor who knows them.”
He also said that nearly six million Canadians do not have access to a family doctor.
“This is not a marginal issue, this is a design failure,” he said.
