Mumbai: The work on the installation of the final span connecting the Mumbai coastal road (south) from the Worli end to the Bandra Worli Sea Link is planned to be carried out in the early hours of November 27. While work on the same was planned for the past weekend, it had to be pushed forward owing to unfavourable weather conditions.
Officials involved in the work said that the last 60-metre span might be installed anytime between 3 am and 6 am on Nov 27. So far, 94% of the work on the coastal road has been completed.
Once the 60-metre span is installed, it would mean that both the northbound and southbound connectors linking the coastal road to the Bandra Worli Sea Link are complete. This connector, like the other which is already in operation, has a total of four spans.
Presently, the connector to the sea link, which has opened to traffic, takes motorists from the Coastal Road to the sea link directly. However, in the case of motorists driving from the sea link towards Marine Drive, they need to alight near the sea link and then take the Coastal Road again, as the two-way connector hasn’t yet been made operational.
The Mumbai coastal road, since March 2024, has been opened up in phases and to date awaits its full commissioning. On Sept 12, the northbound connector from the Coastal Road to the sea link was inaugurated and opened to traffic from Sept 13.
