Flight attendants union says it rejected the arbitration offer by Air Canada

The Union, representing the flight hostesses of Air Canada, states that it has rejected a proposal by the airline to solve the conversation through mediation.

In an update posted on the website of the bargaining committee, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) wrote that Air Canada mentioned the case to force the matter to force interest arbitration.

This process will bring a third-party intermediary in dialogue to mediate on specific items, which do not agree by both sides and provide a decision.

This will also suspend the lockout or strike opportunity. The members of the CUPE voted heavy in favor of a strike mandate last week, with a possible strike to start as ET on August 16 at 12:01 pm.

CUPE published a letter addressed to its air Canada component, Vesley Lesoski president, and on Monday signed by Air Canada Vice President and Human Resource Head Ariel Melol-Wocker.

“After eight months of talks, we have been unable to reach a temporary collective agreement despite our best efforts,” the letter said.

Underlining the proposal, it adds that “if we cannot agree on a mediator within 30 days of your agreeing to the proposal, we ask the Labor Minister to take the name of one.”

Air Canada has informed the Sangh that according to the couple, the sides are far away. The Sangh says in its update that it intends to stay on the bargaining table.

A representative of the CUPE told CBC News that the two sides are coming back “to evaluate proposals” after their exchange. The CBC news has reached Air Canada for comments.

Employment and Labor Advocate in Neligan Law in Ottawa, Malini Vijaykumar said, “Interest arbitration is preferred by employers” because you are avoiding the disintegration of strike and trade. ,

Negotiations have been going on since March

CUPE’s Air Canada component represents over 10,000 flight hostemps who work for the major airline and its budget carriers Air Canada Rouge.

Some of the workers on Monday demonstrated outside four major Canadian airports, which the Sangh called “Action of Action”.

The Sangh says that the most controversial issues on the bargaining table are wages – which states that inflation has not been coordinated – and unpaid work that occurs before boarding and occurs after low, such as security checks and helping passengers.

The Kapa said last week that it would continue to negotiate with Air Canada until August 15, a day before the possible strike.

Both sides are talking from March, when the deadline for the last 10-year mass agreement was over. But the talks reached a deadlock in May, the point at which the Sangh had filed for reconciliation with the federal labor minister.

At that time, Air Canada said its salary structure is on step with other global carriers. Delta Air Lines is the only major North American airline Ground pays salary For your flight attendants, pay half of them at the rate of their per hour for 40 to 50 minutes of boarding time based on the flight destination and aircraft.
