
Doctor, writer and a UFC champion amidst 83 new appointments for Canada’s order
The village. General Mary Simon has announced 83 appointments in Canada’s order – a list consisting of doctors, diplomats, athletes and writers.
Simon’s office announced two new colleagues – the highest level of Canada’s order – 19 officers and 62 members, the introductory honor level in the order. One appointment is a promotion within the order of Canada and the other is an honorary appointment.
The Governor General said in a media statement, “We proudly recognize each of these persons, whose passion for dedication and service not only enriches our communities, but also helps in shaping our nation’s clothes.”
“Together, they inspire us to try for greatness and promote the future full of hope and possibility.”

In the appointments, Dr. Theresa Tam is the former Chief Public Health Officer of Canada. He has been made an officer of order to lead the country’s public health response to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Tam, who ended his term on 20 June as the top physician, was in the role for more than eight years.
Michael McDonald, former Chief Justice of Nova Scotia and Chairman of Mass Casualty Commission, has been made a member of the order.
McDonald described CBC News as his work on the Commission – who led a public inquiry into a 2020 collective shooting in Nova Scotia – “One of the most challenging things he has ever done”.
He said that an appointment for that work and achieving efforts made to improve the justice system in their home province is the “greatest honor” of his life.
These appointments arrive a day before the Governor General, who will invest several Canadians in the Canadian order during the Canada Day festival in Ottawa.
The ceremony will include actor Ryan Reynolds and singer, lyricist Heather Rankin – both will be the officers of the order. His appointments were announced in December 2024.

The list of appointments of this year also includes several musicians including Harmonica player Mike Stevens, Canadian Blues Music Legend Doni Walsh and Grammy-winning record manufacturer Greg Wells.
Stevens told CBC News that he was in the process of transferring houses when he was told that he was being appointed an officer of the order. He said that he was standing in his basement with “standing on the box of the box” when his phone rang.
“I would like to tell you that I was calm, but I lost it completely,” Stevens said. “In a million years I didn’t think I would be identified for my music. It’s a magic trick that is able to do even for a living.”
Stevens said that the honor is “beyond humility.”
Elizabeth Epherly has been made a member of the order for Lucy Maud Montgomery to elevate his contribution, author Anne of Green Gables,
“Following my early surprising, I only felt happy in honor of joining the Canadian family’s order,” Epherly told CBC News in a statement.

APerley has deep relations with Prince Edward Island University. She participated, taught and was the first female president of the school.
“I like anything that reflects well on my Alma Mater,” he said.
“More than this, I embrace this honor as an internationally dear-dear writer as a celebration of LM Montgomery, which inspires people in cultures to realize that a beauty-love, peace-love, planetary-dependent community that they belong to.”
Chief of Staff Mark-Andre Blancard of Prime Minister Mark Carney has also been appointed soon. He is ready to start that job in July.
The office of the Governor General said that Blancard has been made a member of the order for the role played in Canada’s economic development, both home and abroad.

Blancard served as the Ambassador of Canada to the United Nations from 2016 to 2020. He was a recent Executive Vice President. Caisse de dépôt et placement do QuebecWhich manages public pension schemes and insurance programs in the province.
For his role in representing Canada on the world stage, Donald Campbell has been nominated as a member of the order. Campbell served as Deputy Minister of both Foreign Affairs and International Trade, G8 Summit Sherpa And senior negotiator with the United States.
Campbell told CBC News that he is “pleased to be recognized.”
He said that most of his career focuses on issues that are “front and centers” today, including the Canada-US relationship.
In 1994, Campbell of the North American Free Trade Agreement inspected the talks.
“I think public service is something that cares Canadian in such a way that many other countries including the country in our south do not seem in this moment,” he said.
“Canadian and working for Canada are now even more important as it has ever been.”
Two former senators have also been made a member of the order for their contribution to the country. Robert Runsiman represented Ontario in the Red Chamber from 2010 to 2017 after a long career in provincial politics and was a Cloudet Tardiff for Alberta from 2005 to 2018.
Former regular Bruce Anderson has been nominated for his comment on public opinion and political affairs on CBC’s AT point panel. He is now the Chief Strategy Officer at Spark Advockey.

Author Mirium Toz has been made an officer of order for his contribution to Canadian literature. His works are included A complex kindness, All my virtuous sorrows And Talking about women,
Lewis Half, also known by his name Sky Dancer, has been made a member. He is a poet from the Sandal Lake Cree Nation in Alberta.
Through its work in both crees and English, half advocates for learning and conservation and expresses the history and experiences of indigenous people.
Michelist Rabagliaeti, a cartoonist from Montreal, has been appointed as a member of the order.
Rabagliiati told CBC News that the appointment was “a full surprise and good news – it is not every day that someone receives a call from the Governor General’s office.”
“This means that my work has managed to touch people outside the silence of my workshop, for years,” he said. “When you work in solitude for a long time, as I am a case, it encourages you to continue to continue such a difference. As a writer, I think I feel read, appreciated and proud.”

World champion mixed martial artists, Georges St.-Pierre, has been made a member of his commitment to help young Canadian people promote bullying and physical activity.
From the world of sports, there are former NHL players and coach Ted Nolan to join the order as an officer. He played three seasons for Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguin. He also coached New York Islanders.

The office of the Governor General said that Nolan has been appointed as an officer for continuous support of indigenous youth as a patron, speaker and anti -racism lawyer. He co-produced the 3nolans First Nation Hockey School with his sons Brandon and Jordan, and established the Ted Nolan Foundation, which provides scholarship to the first nation women.
Nolan told CBC News that he felt “the jerk and enthusiasm were all wrapped in one” when he was reported to be the news of his appointment.
Once when he reached that stroke, he said that first people thought about him that he was his parents.
“He taught me the importance of giving me back, proud of who I am as a person of a first nation,” he said.
