Ludhiana: Riding pillion on a two-wheeler, municipal corporation (MC) commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted surprise inspections on Wednesday to check the condition of the multi-storey parking near the Zone A office and sanitation in different old city areas. To escape the city’s traffic mess, the Dachalwal rode behind a superintendent from Zone A.
The markets near the MC zonal office are quite congested, making it difficult to navigate by car.
The civic body will undertake repair works at the multi-storey parking to facilitate the public. An e-auction of the parking lot is also planned, as there have been numerous complaints about its poor condition. Weeds have grown on the terrace of the parking lot, and Dachalwal noted that its condition has not improved since his previous inspection as an additional commissioner.
During his inspections, Dachalwal issued necessary directions to ensure cleanliness and instructed staff to regularly check the attendance of sweepers. He emphasised that the multi-storey parking near the Zone A office is a major parking lot in the old city areas, with many residents visiting daily. An estimated Rs 1.50 crore has been allocated for its repairs, and officials have been directed to expedite the process.
Dachalwal also stressed the need for city-wide cleanliness, issuing strict instructions to civic body staff and urging zonal commissioners to conduct field inspections. He appealed to residents to support the civic body in keeping the city clean by not dumping waste in open areas or vacant plots.
