Mumbai: The Maharashtra state legislature will not have an opposition leader because of the misdeeds of the Congress, claimed state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Addressing the media at the state party headquarters on Sunday, Bawankule said Congress set a false narrative during the Lok Sabha elections and won several seats. This time, the people decided to punish them, he added.
A party needs 29 MLAs to claim the opposition leader’s post.As per the results released by the ECI, Congress won 16 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) 20, and NCP (SP) 10. In the Mahayuti alliance, BJP won 132 seats and is the single largest party in the legislature, Shiv Sena 57, and NCP 41. tnn
