Ludhiana: Municipal corporation (MC) commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal on Thursday held a review meeting to expedite development and cleanliness works across the city. Development works are being initiated in large numbers in almost every constituency ahead of the MC polls.
The completion of these projects is viewed as a challenge for the officials, with the quality of work being a major concern.
Senior officials from the buildings and roads (B&R) wing and operations and maintenance (O&M) cell participated in the meeting, where necessary directions were issued to expedite the completion of pending works. MC additional commissioner Paramdeep Singh, joint commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, joint commissioner Abhishek Sharma, assistant commissioner Neeraj Jain, assistant commissioner Gurpal Singh, chief engineer Ravinder Garg, along with superintending engineers and executive engineers, were among those present.
Dachalwal said in addition to expediting ongoing works, officials have been directed to complete the tender process for previously approved projects as soon as possible, so that these projects can be completed to benefit the residents.
He emphasised that strict instructions have been issued to ensure cleanliness and the regular cleaning of sewer lines across the city. Officials have also been directed to address residents’ grievances promptly.
The zonal commissioners are conducting inspections to assess the situation, and Dachalwal himself will be conducting surprise inspections in the coming days.
