Mumbai: A 40-year-old Ghatkopar woman has lodged a complaint that her daughter’s boyfriend called her to a metro railway station and showed her some compromising pictures of the girl. The woman alleged that he demanded Rs 50,000 from her and threatened her that if she failed to pay, he would upload those pictures on social media. Ghatkopar police registered an FIR and are looking for the accused, identified as Naushad Jamdar, who allegedly extorted The accused allegedly accepted Rs 50,000 from her and continues to harass the family.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the trouble began in May 2023, when Naushad allegedly manipulated the victim girl into a relationship. When the girl’s mother confronted her daughter about the relationship, the family discovered that Naushad possessed inappropriate photographs of the girl. Soon after, Naushad contacted the complainant, asking her to meet him at Jagruti Nagar metro station.
During the meeting, Naushad reportedly threatened to make the photographs viral unless the family paid him Rs 50,000. Feeling desperate to protect her daughter’s reputation, the complainant arranged the money and handed it over to Naushad in cash. After receiving the money, Naushad allegedly warned her of “bad consequences” if she reported the incident to the police.
For over a year, the family endured harassment in silence, fearing for their safety and their daughter’s future. However, as the threats persisted, the victim’s family finally approached the police to file a complaint.
The police registered the case under Sections 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Investigations are underway to apprehend the accused and recover the alleged photographs from his possession.
