New Heritage Minute Annie Innis Dagg, the heavenly giraffe expert and Waterloo, honors the zoologist from Onts.

The Canadian woman who loved Giraffe very much studied her for years in Africa, being honored in a new heritage minute short film.

Historica Canada released a video featuring the late Anne Inis Dagg of Waterloo, Onts on Thursday morning.

Dagg was a creature and wrote several books, one of which was considered a Bible on giraffe after work in Africa. He died last year At the age of 91.

His daughter, CEO of Anne Inis Dagg Foundation, Mary Dagg said that the family was contacted by Historica Canada in the fall of 2024 to produce a short film about a Canadian female scientist, which more people should know about.

“And I like, ‘hell yes,” Mary said. “This is an unprecedented opportunity for people to learn more about what my mother has done.”

The new heritage minute highlighting Dagg was launched in Canada as a part of the month of women’s history.

Anthony Wilson-Smith, president and CEO of Historica Canada, told CBC News that the heavenly creatures symbolize all the qualities that they see in a heritage minute.

Wilson-Smith said, “He overwhelmed adversity to create a permanent mark on the world platform in a very specific area.”

“And he did this with grace and dedication. He is someone who should know all Canadian people, as a source of great pride.”

In the details under the YouTube video, Historica Canada noted that despite having an expert and a leading authority on the giraffe, “Dagg struggled to achieve a permanent teaching status despite being well worthy. Later she advocated gender equality, especially in academia.”

A documentary with luggage in the attic

Dagg 2018 was the subject of the documentary LadyWhich was directed by Alison Reid. Reid was also hired as a heritage minute director, which featured Dagg.

Reid first approached Dagg in the mid -2010s, stating about making a dramatic film about his life after listening to a Zoologist’s CBC show.

But the journey of Dagg’s house changed his mind.

“Attari had all kinds of goods, and my mother had a total pack rat. She kept everything,” said her daughter Mary.

“My mother was saying,” Look, I have got old (film) footage since the 1950s. ” Allie (Reid) goes up and (my mother) sees her out with boxes … and then Ali said, ‘You know that this is a documentary, we have so many materials here. And then he transferred the gear. ,

Mary said it took five years to create a documentary, and included trips to Africa for interviews with her mother, other giraffe experts, and such people, which were in the university where her mother did not get a tenure.

Mary hopes Heritage Minutes will inspire people to take action and join their world care.

“Whatever action will be taken – to get out in nature, join a club, join it,” he said.

“The message for me is that there is someone who said,” I like it and I am going to travel to the other side of the world. ” This kind of passion and which moves forward, I would like to take people into a big picture. ,
