The weekly Public Health Ontario Epidemiology Report says a measles outbreak that began nearly a year ago in the province is over.
Ontario declared the end of the outbreak on Monday, using national guidance that says the outbreak is complete 46 days after the onset of the rash with the last case, the report said.
It said the last person linked to the measles outbreak developed the rash on August 21.
The report said 2,375 people were infected in the outbreak spread across 26 public health units.
Its spread began on October 18 last year in New Brunswick after contact with someone with measles.
A baby in southwestern Ontario has died after its mother became infected with measles and gave birth prematurely.
Another child has died in the ongoing outbreak in Alberta.
Public health officials are on alert as reports from Ontario warn that measles is still spreading in Canada.
