Mumbai: The Sunni Dawat-e-Islami (SDI), a worldwide organisation of Sunni Muslims, is hold its 32nd annual ijtema or congregation at Azad Maidan.
The first day is dedicated exclusively to women and over 1 lakh women are expected to attend this event where scholars and preachers will speak about rights and duties of women.
“The scholars will focus on how women can play a positive role in creation of a good, peaceful society. Besides SDI president Maulana Shakir Noorie, others scholars will deliberate on the role of women in creating a harmonious environment in society,” said spokesperson Mohammed Shahid.
He added that, besides women on the first day, over 2 lakh men are expected to attend the next two days. Both commoners and scholars will attend it. They will acquire knowledge of Islamic theology, prayer methodology and principles to be followed. Various interactive sessions apart from religious discourses will be held at the ijtema. tnn
