This orange lobster can’t see that uncommon – however it’s 1 in 30 million
Until last week, Fishmonger Yavon Jalbert had never seen Orange Lobster in his 40 -year career.
“This is very rare. We have yellow, we have blue, but the orange is never,” Jalbert said, ” Director of fish market Les Pêcheries Gaspésiennes de Rivière-Au-Renard in Gaspé, Que.
For untrained eye, the crustacean caught in the mesh can not look all different – similar to the color of a fresh ripe lobster out of the pot.
But it turns out that it is one of the 30 million-Blu is even more rare than lobasters-the Lemond-Galaxry, is called the Mathy Living collection, Mathyed Lemond-Classori, the acting of living collections at the Exploramar Museum in Santhe-Ann-Des-Monts.
“They are quite lucky,” he said about the fishing company.
Lamonde-Glandari states that normal lobesters look more red-brown, but a blue and yellow color appears close to their joints. This is because the American lobster species has a red and blue pigment, they say.
“The red pigment is surrounded by a cage of the blue pigment, so the cage may have more or less layers. And the more layers there are, the less we look at the red,” they say.
He says that blue lobesters produce too much blue pigments, also known as crustaceinin.

“But in (this) case … orange-yellow one, this is because it is capable of making a type of cage with just one type of layers,” Lamond-Galaxari said, adding normal shrimp fishes will mix these stained layers.
He usually says, the red-brown color of a lobster allows it to hide it quite easily in its habitat. Although he has some predators in the sea, Lamond-Galaxry says Crustsians are very aggressive animals.
“They are regional, so they fight a lot,” they said. “They can also be cannibal. So a lobster may be a small lobster hunter.”
He notes that orange or red or blue, once cooked, they will all turn red.
Housing at the Explosion Museum specificly colored lobasters, Lamond-Galaxry, says he is contacting Gespee Fisri about his latest search.
“But often a fish market will keep them as a promotional stunt for a few weeks,” he said. “Most of the time, they will give them to (A) Aquariums like us or simply throw them back into the wild.”
The fish market says this is Intention to keep the orange lobster alive and introduce customers popping for fishing season. Later, it can be introduced to return to the Montreal biodeome, aquarium or water of the cubek.
