Tidal power proposer plans to revise the turbine on the failed company’s vessel

The Otawah -based Ocenutic Power Corporation wants to convert the bay of Funny Tids into electricity by modifying the turbine on a failed company pot.

Just a year ago the exact power, East big moon power, Filed for bankruptcyThe company had received an attractive power purchase agreement with a Test-Site berth and Nova Scotia Power at Funny Ocean Research Center for Energy, located near Parrsboro, NS.

Now, the major property of the event, including a vessel, is designed for $ 14 million US as Falcon, owned by Oceannetic.

The founder of that company, Sasha Jacob, was an advisor to be the first and helped safe money.

“This is really exciting for us,” Jacob said, who were other renewable technologies such as Onshore Wind and the early days of Geothrmal.

“We are looking at the same divine point with tidal power,” he said.

Fred Ferguson, Chief Technology Officer of Oceticic, said that there are plans to modify turbines on the ship to improve energy capture up to 400 percent.

Three blades

“If it was a windmill that a farmer pumped water as an example, one of the old-fashioned, they are very disabled, as contrary to modern wind turbines, who are three-blades and very skilled,” said Ferguson.

“And so we are carrying this paddlewheel and reducing the number of blades to only three.”

The new turbine is a technique developed by the Ottawa-based wateroter. Ferguson is the founder and CEO of the company.

He said that the amendment of the pot, which is coming to Digby this week for an inspection, is estimated to be around $ 10 million.

If all go according to the plan, Ferguson said that Ocentic can produce energy in 2026.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the Oceannetic Fund will protect a berth in the Ocean Research Center for Energy.

Earlier this year, the province appointed Toronto -based Power Advisor to oversee the purchase process for Tedder stream energy projects. The application deadline is 26 September.

Michael Killi, a commercial director with power advisory, said that one of the two berths or both has about a dozen registrars interested in submitting an application for a marine renewable power license to work.
