Union pledged to fight ‘destructive’ from the upcoming closure of the Ontario plant, which bottles of Crown Royal Whiskey

The Diazio Plant at Amharstgberg, Onts is set to be closed in February, which the company said in an attempt to “increase efficiency”.

This feature is one of Canadian plants that are crowned Royal whiskey.

The company said that whiskey was mashed in Canada, would continue to be distilled and aged, but this step “was an attempt to move some bottling volumes to be close to many of its American Crown Royal Consumers.”

The statement said, “Diazio will maintain its important footprints throughout Canada, including our Canadian headquarters and warehouse operations in the Greater Toronto region and Gimli, Manitoba and Valifield, other bottling and distillation facilities in Cubek.”

‘Shocking and destructive’

The Sangh, which represents the workers at the plant, said it would not stop the convenience without any fight.

Unifor Local 200 President John D’negollo called the move “shocking and destructive”.

“I can guarantee you that a lot of tears were coming from that plant, as it is a benchmark in Mahrstberg. It is our greatest employer,” D’Pnollo said, which represents 160 workers in the convenience.

“We have got to make sure that we fight like hell to keep that plant.”

D’Angnolo said that the workers learned only about the closure on Thursday morning and there was no prior discussion about the improvement in operation on the site.

“They read me a letter, saying that it was a commercial decision and it was that.”

D’Angnolo said that this step is particularly disastrous as Unifor has consistently advocated jobs to live in Canada amid tariff war.

He said that he talked to the plant chair to learn more about the decision and is there any chance to keep it open.

The last measures will have to take monetary support for the workers, he said. “But I don’t even want to think about that right now.”

Ripple Effects in Amharstberg

Dan James, president of the Mahrstberg Chamber of Commerce, said the closure would have a major impact on the community.

“This is the first time Amharstgberg has seen a business as valuable as Dijio, the size of Diazio, as much as many life affects, hits here locally.”

He said that families would probably be tightened their expenses in the months to the shutdown, which would affect local restaurants and small businesses.

Jemus said that small and medium -sized businesses are already struggling with the impact of tariffs and rising costs. He also said that he does not believe that the Sangh will succeed in reversing the decision, although he believes that workers will have to try.

D’Angnolo said that he wants support from all levels of the government to ensure manufacturing plants in Canada.
