Mumbai/Nashik: The defeat of NCP (SP) nominee Rohini Khadse in Jalgaon’s Muktainagar constituency has put a big question mark on the political future of her father and veteran politician, Eknath Khadse. This is the second time in a row that Khadse could not make his daughter win the seat, traditionally his stronghold.
On Rohini’s defeat from the Muktainagar assembly constituency, Khadse said he had a relationship with the people for the past 45 years.”Chandrakant Patil (independent candidate who defeated Rohini) got 550 votes in my village. In all the elections, including the Zilla Parishad election, the opposition never got so many votes. This is the first time, so there is room for doubt. Party workers are surprised, but it shows in the VVPAT slips. I don’t think it appropriate to lodge a complaint,” he said.
Speaking to the media late Saturday night, Khadse said the unexpected victory of the Mahayuti means people across the state are fine with the price rise, corruption, farmers’ suicides, no price for farm products, and the deteriorating law and order situation. “All these issues have proved to be irrelevant; only the Ladki Bahin scheme reigned supreme,” he said.
