The 52nd International Emmy Awards, hosted by Indian comedian-actor Vir Das, took place in New York on November 25, 2024. Das made history as the first Indian to host the prestigious event, which honours the best television programmes produced outside the United States.
Organised by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS), the gala brought together over a thousand international broadcasting, production, and distribution executives to celebrate excellence in global television.
The winners spanned a wide range of categories, showcasing talent and creativity from across the globe. Major Winners at the 52nd International Emmy Awards included Timothy Spall who took home the Best Performance by an Actor award for his role in the British drama ‘The Sixth Commandment’ that delves into the tragic abuse and murder of Peter Farquhar and the death of his neighbour Ann Moore-Martin in Buckinghamshire.
Best Performance by an Actress went to Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying for her role in ‘Hunger’. This Thai series tells the gripping story of a woman transitioning from running her family’s noodle shop to navigating the high-stakes world of fine dining under an infamous chef.
Winning in the Sports Documentary category was ‘Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story’, led by Keanu Reeves. The series recounts the extraordinary tale of Ross Brawn’s underfunded and independent Formula 1 team clinching the World Championship in 2009.
India’s The Night Manager, starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala, was nominated in the Best Drama Series category but lost to France’s Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God).
The awards featured 14 categories, including Drama Series, Comedy, Documentary, Arts Programming, Kids Programming, Sports Documentary, and Telenovela.

Live-Action goes to ‘En af Drengene’ (One of the Boys).
Factual & Entertainment goes to ‘La Vida Secreta de tu Mente’ (The secret life of your mind).
TV Movie/Mini-Series goes to Liebes Kind [Dear Child]
