International Emmys 2024: India's 'The Night Manager' loses Best Drama Series award to France's 'Les Gouttes de Dieu'

The Night Manager‘, which was India’s sole entry at the 2024 International Emmy Awards 2024, sadly lost out in the Best Drama Series category. At the awards show on Tuesday, the web series fell short with the award going to France’s ‘Les Gouttes de Dieu‘ (Drops of God).
The Apple+ series follows a woman who inherits her late father’s wine collection.However, to claim her inheritance, she must compete against her father’s protégé, in a series of wine-related tests.

Meanwhile, ‘The Night Manager’, is an Indian adaptation of the acclaimed British series by the same name follows a former Indian Navy Lieutenant who infiltrates the inner circle of an arms dealer to bring down his empire. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala in lead roles, it had to compete against a strong lineup, including Australia’s ‘The Newsreader – Season 2’ and Argentina’s ‘Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido – Season 2’ (Yosi, the Regretful Spy).
Directed by Sandeep Modi ‘The Night Manager’ released in 2023. The first instalment premiered in February 2023, with the second following in June. The series also starred Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ravi Behl.
Meanwhile, the original series won three Golden Globe Awards in 2017, one each for Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman. It also bagged two Primetime Emmy Awards in 2016.
