Armed scuffle over village land

Ludhiana: A simmering land dispute between two groups in Khehra village erupted into violence as sharp-edged weapons and gunfire were allegedly used, prompting police to book over 20 individuals. No one sustained bullet injuries, but one man was hospitalized after being injured by a sharp weapon.
The clash was reported on November 20 when complainant Davinder Singh and his cousin Arvinder Singh, along with friends, were returning from their 20-acre farmland in a Mahindra Thar and tractor. The group alleged that Kulwant and his associates jhad blocked their path with a tractor and fired shots into the air, injuring one of their friends.
Davinder said the dispute began after Arvinder purchased the land two months ago. A road to their property passed through the accused’s land, which led to tension despite a panchayat settlement allowing them access. ASI Gurinder Singh of Ladhowal police confirmed that both groups had fired shots. Kulwant Singh, his family, and 15 more individuals now face charges under the Arms Act. Two licensed firearmed were recovered and four accused arrested.
